Ms Drea DeVille is a multi-disciplinary queer artist, Dominatrix, podcast producer & host, somatic healing practitioner, equine therapy facilitator, as well as SaaS client partner expert in the Tech sector and member of Women in Technology
Accepted to Art Center College of Design Pasadena, Drea works in acrylic, oil and mixed media and has shown in Southern California and in Germany. Rooted in lived experience, her work explores the human condition through sexuality, trauma, survival, addiction, chronic illness, memory, and transformation. As a survivor and someone living with chronic illness she draws from experiences of loss, resilience, and reclamation as well as the political and social forces that shape our experience
In recent years, art has become an important part of Drea’s process of understanding and healing from trauma. Drawing from somatic experience, dreamwork and ritual, sexuality and its expression is a core theme in much of Drea’s work. Having endured gender-based violence throughout her life Drea explores what it means to inhabit and reclaim the body on one’s own terms. The body being a source of agency, power, pleasure, and self-possession.
Drea’s work challenges the audience to look beyond their first reaction, experience what the work brings up for them, and examine their own judgements and beliefs. She does not suggest to the viewer what to think but instead asks them why they think and feel what they do.
Drea is passionate about addressing gender, and queer based violence, racial justice, women’s rights & freedom, mutual aid, decriminalizing sex work and drug use, equine assisted therapy and “getting back to the body and nature” (disconnect from tech)
Drea supports both The Sidewalk Project and Star Horses
