Back where we have some mobile data, here are some photos of our artists and their art from last weekend's exhibition. We had a great time sharing a truly varied selection of work. We'll have more coming, including video of some of the performers from Saturday.

Join us this weekend as @somasnakeoil invites us to experience her 'Relics' series - a collection of sapphic connections from throughout her fascinating life (my word, not hers 😁)

Soma Snakeoil is the executive director and co-founder of @thesidewalkprojectla , a lived experience harm reduction organization with chapters in multiple cities, including a mobile SSP and a day center for cis and trans women in Skid Row.

She is an artist, activist, Dominatrix, and playwright whose passion for the houseless community comes from lived experience. Soma sits on multiple LA County steering committees, serves on the California Syringe Program's steering committee, and is a frequent guest speaker lecturing on harm reduction at UCI, UCLA, USC, and Mount St. Mary's.

Her work, both as an activist and an artist, pays particular focus to gender-based violence, sex worker and queer liberation, and the feminization of poverty.

Soma is a long-time member of the BDSM and kink community and has spent much of her adult life as a model and performer in those communities, with a heavy emphasis on queer content.

Also joining us this weekend is kat montanez (they/any - @_kmontanez ), an artist, performer, sw, and community organizer whose work revolves around exploration and healing in the service of the collective.

his work engages with the strength and vulnerability of sensual self-worth, deciphering how to be a present body and soul among community, how to navigate biological/ chosen bloodlines, and how to honor ancestral practice.

Blood is at the root of their creations - building around the path of their blood with other organics, crafts, and upcycled materials, returning to blood at the end of the process, mirroring other natural cycles. Her use of blood contemplates, the calmness of the inevitable life force and the rage of trauma, survival, and revolution.

As an organizer, for the past 4 years, they have worked with @waterdropla , a mutual aid group. They helped start in 2020 to fight for better water access and services for LA's unhoused neighbors.

Come see their work - *and* hear their musical performance - along with others at @exhibitagallery on Fairfax and please consider signing up to volunteer with @waterdropla . Support is needed every Sunday 11a-2p distributing water and other essential resources in Skid Row (and back end organizing help is always welcome in general)

We are now just over a week out from our Fall Exhibition, so it's time to meet our artists!

Ms Tress ( @yesms.tress ) is a professional dominatrix and multi-disciplinary artist. Beginning in performing arts, she held a decade-long career in dance before attending the San Francisco Art institute.

Beginning in 2021, she incorporated skills learned from her work as a dominatrix into her artistic practice, creating abstract paintings using her floggers.

This unique method of creation makes every work and experiment in planning, precision, and the whims of Fate. Imbuing her pieces with sweeping expressions of color and texture, every painting becomes a unique expression of impact play.

Come see her work next Friday and Saturday, September 27 and 28, at Exhibit A Gallery on Fairfax ( @exhibitagallery ).
